Stonehenge and the Maya Calendar
Stonehenge
A Computer
Stonehenge is believed to have been built around 2000 BC. The large stones did not come from the local area and had to be transported miles, in order to be built at that site.
For years people thought that it had just been built as a place of worship, although they did recognize that it was aligned perfectly in order to show the summer solstice.
More recently experts claim to have been able to fully decode, the positioning of the stones.
They claim that the ancient monument was built like a computer. Using it you could accurately work out the timings of eclipses, which occur in 56 year cycles.
This computer or clock, they state, was used in order to give the time for the start and finish of different seasons, also to predict forthcoming eclipses.
Each solstice the sun would rise directly behind the “Heel Stone” and shed its shadow into an area within the circle of stones. As with all clocks,Stonehenge needed to, on occasions, be reset. This was done by advancing by one stone every 300 years.
Maya Calendar
Countdown
Like I have said, it is believed that Stonehenge has worked perfectly as a computer. It has done so for thousands of years but like most things there is an end point.
It has now been worked out that the use of Stonehenge as a clock will come to an end. That is to say that, the day when the shadow of the sun, at the summer solstice, falls outside of the stoned circle.
The days of Stonehenge, being used as a clock, will run out. Does this mean TIME will run out?
The calculations are that this will happen in 2012.
Is it coincidence that both the Stonehenge calendar and the Maya calendar, both end in the same year?
What ancient wisdom inspired these two icons of our ancestry?
Whilst both, displaying brilliant astronomical insight yet half a world apart.
Separated by thousands of miles and working for thousands of years, then joining together, to stop in unison.
