I like trivia of this kind, but I disagree about the China thing, and here is why: It isn't the rate of reproduction, it is the sheer size of the population. If one passed every second, it would take more than one lifetime to just count to a billion.

I think when they make new rules they forget to cancel the old ones. I know that 20 odd years ago, there was still a by-law requiring London "cabbies" to carry a bail of straw.

Wonderfully enlightening and amusing. Awesome.

I will bet there are thousands more of these little known facts, especially some of the most inane laws written state by state. Quite funny, but scary when you think about it. I mean, really, who would cross the state line with a duck on their head?

And i have had some of that 'hootch' as a young man in the back woods of new england when those old moonshine stills were up and running.
